How your details are used.

Who is responsible

Built by Lumn is run by Bradley, a sole trader based in Maidenhead, UK. Bradley is responsible for the details you send through this website. You can reach him at hello@builtbylumn.com.

What is collected

When you use a form on this site: your name, your email address or phone number, and anything you choose to tell me about your business or enquiry. If you email hello@builtbylumn.com directly, your message and email address.

The forms are protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks that a person, not a bot, is sending them.

If you set up a Lumn account: your business name, your name, your email address, and your phone number and trade if you give them. Logging in to the dashboard sets one cookie that keeps you signed in for 30 days. It is needed for the dashboard to work, is not used for tracking, and is removed when you log out.

What it is used for

To reply to your enquiry, and to follow it up. If you enquire, you will get an automatic reply, then up to three short follow-up messages over the next week, unless you reply, book or opt out first.

Every follow-up message has a link that stops them straight away.

Your details are never sold, and never used for anything except your enquiry and any work that follows from it.

If I contacted your business

I sometimes get in touch with local businesses, mostly limited companies, to offer a free Google check. For that I keep the business’s name, trade, area and Google rating, which are public on Google Maps, and the business email address published on its own website.

I use them only to contact the business about Lumn, on the basis of my legitimate interest in telling local businesses about a service that could help them. Reply “no thanks” or email hello@builtbylumn.com and I’ll stop, and delete your details if you ask.

Who else handles it

Cloudflare hosts the website and stores enquiries. Resend sends the emails, and receives replies to businesses’ follow-ups so they stop once you answer. Stripe takes card payments for Lumn accounts, so your card details go to Stripe and never to me. For businesses on Lumn Plus, Twilio sends and receives their texts, so your phone number and any texts go through Twilio. To register a Plus business’s text line, as UK rules require, Twilio also receives the business’s details and, for a sole trader, a photo of their ID, which goes straight to Twilio and isn’t stored by Lumn. All of them act only on my instructions.

For businesses using Lumn, follow-up messages may be drafted by Anthropic’s Claude from the enquiry and the business’s own writing sample. Anthropic processes this only to write the message and does not train its models on it.

How long it is kept

Enquiries are kept while they are useful for the conversation and any work that follows. Ask, and I will delete yours.

Your rights

You can ask to see the details held about you, correct them, or have them deleted. Email hello@builtbylumn.com. If you are unhappy with how your details have been handled, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
